A Los Angeles production studio manager and journalist is out of a job over a pair of tweets that wished death on the Covington Catholic High School students who were involved in a media firestorm over the weekend.
Erik Abriss, a post-production supervisor at INE Entertainment and a pop culture contributing writer at Vulture magazine, wrote Saturday, “I don’t know what it says about me but I’ve truly lost the ability to articulate the hysterical rage, nausea, and heartache this makes me feel. I just want these people to die. Simple as that. Every single one of them. And their parents,” according to The Wrap.
Mr. Abriss was reacting to a viral edited video that showed several students from the Covington school in Kentucky, many of whom were wearing “Make America Great Again” hats, during an encounter with a Native American elder at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington. The video created the media narrative that the students were taunting the man, but hours of footage that later surfaced showed the contrary, leading to dozens of retractions and apologies by media members and celebrities.
In another tweet reacting to the initial video, Mr. Abriss wrote, “Racism is in its Boomer death throes. It will die out with this younger generation!’ Look at the shit-eating grins on all those young white slugs’ faces. Just perverse pleasure at wielding a false dominion they’ve been taught their whole life was their divine right. F–ing die,” The Wrap reported.
INE Entertainment called Mr. Abriss‘ comments “offensive” in a statement announcing his firing Monday.“We were surprised and upset to see the inflammatory and offensive rhetoric used on Erik Abriss‘ Twitter account this weekend. He worked with the company in our post-production department and never as a writer,” the company said.

From The Bishop:
We are at a point in our American society in which we seriously have to ask the question;
“What is wrong with these people?”
What has happened–I ask rhetorically–to civility in our culture? When did we collectively gain the right to wish death or demand capital punishment for thought? Did Orwell’s fictional work 1984 suddenly become a truth, in which a mere facial expression is a crime to be punished?
When we look at the rush to judgment made by the so called progressive media, celebrities, and elected officials condemning High School kids, before all the facts were presented, we have to wonder their intentions; surely they do not value the freedoms of speech, thought, religion, opinion and the right to peacefully protest that which many to perceive to be evil, in this case abortion.
Classic discernment would find that looking at history in a linear progression beginning with the times of Monarchs and universal serfdom when the majority of people were the property of their king, progressing through to the Twentieth Century when even Socialism began to fall and some people gained never imagined freedoms, finally now as we near the end of the second decade of the 21st we see many who never fought for freedom–calling themselves progressives –extolling the need for the suppression of thought, ideas, opinion, expression, religion, and even natural conditions such as masculinity and femininity. How is it progressive to deny base rights, when those rights do not directly harm another?
How is it progressive to demand the execution of young men, high school kids, who chose to march for Life and wear a hat emblazoned with a political meme?
For those of us who follow the teachings of Christ, not only should we pray for the oppressed, and for our country, but we should reeducate ourselves with 20th century history when the Nazis forced the Jewish people in Europe to wear a yellow Star of David, denoting their ethnicity, and their eventual death by genocide. Yes we should reacquaint ourselves with this nightmare of history as if our society continues on its present course of Antisemitism as well as bigotry directed at Christians, Jews will once again be forced to wear a yellow star marking them for extermination and Christians will be alongside their Jewish brothers and sisters wearing a cross for the same eventuality.
