On 14 January Ann Corcoran wrote on her Blog: Frauds, Crooks and Criminals;
Two weeks in to this new blog—Frauds, Crooks and Criminals—I’m reminded of all the great work many of you do researching issues where you live, national issues too!
But, are you getting that important information out on a local or state website? If not, why not!
Let me stop for a moment and state that while some folks like Ms. Corcoran can find time to post on one or more blogs daily, sometimes even several times a day, many of us simply have other things we have to do. I know I certainly can not spend all day blogging; as much as I might like to.
Now with that said, lets take a moment to discuss why we should blog.
I doubt if there are truly accurate statistics that indicate just how many people out there blog. By that I mean not just only written blogs such as the one you are reading, but video blogs as well. And there are just as many subjects to blog about as there are bloggers or vloggers as they refer to those that make videos. For the purpose of this editorial let us focus on the topics of culture and politics; which in this polarized era are hopelessly intertwined.
The necessity of sharing.
On 22 March 2019 I “shared” an editorial from Town Hall titled Transgender ‘Woman’ Escapes Plato’s Cave by Will Alexander. In his editorial Mr. Alexander used the allegorical tale attributed to the Greek philosopher Plato. This ancient tale illustrates so very well the problem we are attempting to deal with when we blog on topics of culture and politics. Lets take another look at what Mr. Alexander wrote (emphasis mine):
In the “Allegory of the Cave,” Plato imagined a group of people who were confined to a cave-like chamber from birth, chained in a way that made it impossible for them to stand up or move their heads. So, they sat still facing the wall of the cave for their entire lives.
Behind the prisoners was a pathway where men, like puppeteers, stood behind a low wall holding up wooden images of men and other objects to project shadows onto the wall of the cave using the light from a fire behind them. The “puppeteers” gave voices to the objects, which echoed off the cave’s wall.
With only the ability to sit and stare at the wall, the prisoners were conditioned to believe that the shadows were real men, and that the echoes were real voices.
Plato supposed that one of the prisoners escaped the cave. He became so disoriented and blinded by the sun’s splendor that he had to be dragged and forced to continue the journey. Once his eyes adjusted, he realized that life inside the cave wasn’t real, so he rushed to warn his fellow prisoners.
But returning to the darkness of the cave made him disoriented and, for a time, blind. The prisoners thought the blindness and confusion was permanent, so they vowed to never leave the cave and to kill anyone who tried to drag them out.
Like Plato’s allegory, America is rife with puppeteers in the media, in politics, Hollywood, schools and government who propagate the country with “shadows” and “echoes” to make us believe all sorts of things that aren’t true.
People on both sides of the cultural/political debate have popularized the term “Fake News” which means information disseminated that is less than factual or perhaps not truthful; more commonly known as propaganda. This is what Mr. Alexander was referring to when he wrote the last paragraph above that is emphasized in bold italics.
This is nothing new…
I have heard people complain about the liberal media my whole life.
I remember the Vietnam war era during which conservative rural people complained about the Liberal Media only reporting about the excesses of our troops during operations in Southeast Asia but not about the horrors of the enemy. In talking to veterans it was easy to see that the opposing forces were far more ruthless than our boys. This doesn’t excuse what a small number of our soldiers did that were criminal acts. But rather my statement is an indictment of a media that purposely sought to turn public opinion against the war effort. Had the media acted in a similar manner during World War 2, today’s liberals would be justified in using the terms Nazis and Fascists as Hitler would have won the war.
In the same respect, at this very moment, the only factual reporting about the very real human crisis in Venezuela is coming from foreign journalists and independent bloggers reporting on the plight of a people who are held hostage by crumbling socialism. The mainstream media refuses to factually report on how the failing Socialist regime has rigged elections–a fact that even other nations are crying foul over–and stayed in power regardless of the will of the people. A regime that is using murderous brute force to retain its position. Other than the US Media and other socialist leaning factions, the rest of the world has recognized that the current government in Venezuela is illegitimate.
Of course as Mr. Alexander points out in Transgender ‘Woman’ Escapes Plato’s Cave one of the victims of this concerted effort by the media to propagandize the masses Army vet Jamie Shupe, who now feels victimized by this culture to normalize trans gender issues. Shupe asks rhetorically why someone didn’t take the time to read his medical history before enabling his path toward surgical dismemberment. Shupe was being treated for PTSD and feels that this should have been a red flag for those that approved his requests to be surgically altered to appear as something he was not.
On 22 March we also learned that the Mueller investigation was over and that no evidence of Russian collusion had been found. As you recall the Democrats and their lap dogs in the liberal media have maintained–falsely– since the general elections in 2016 that Trump could not have fairly defeated Hillary Clinton but must have worked with the Russians to cheat Hillary out of what was her’s.
Those that propagandize the masses–as Mr. Alexander rightly posits–maintain that everyone voted for Hillary, therefore the election must have been rigged. However if you take the time to realistically look at maps detailing how America voted, you see that Hillary only won the big cities; hot beds of liberalism. The rest of the country in its entirety voted for Trump.
Daily we are inundated with reports of prominent people, celebrities, and politicians speaking out about hate, bigotry, and oppression. But when you look at the facts–if you take the time to peruse anything other than main stream media–you quickly realize that the most hateful, bigoted, divisive, people who oppress are not conservatives, but rather liberals.
Therefore–if you believe in this country and what our people have worked together to accomplish–you realize that our way of life is in danger. There are those that wish to strip away our freedoms and take us down the same road that every failed communist/socialist state has gone down. If we don’t act now, we face cultural extinction, if not genocide.
What can we do?
Having just fought a devastating war against a tyrannical ruler that used his standing army against his own people, the founders of the United States recognized that every able bodied man should be armed and prepared to defend his family, property and his country. Therefore they put in place the Second Amendment guaranteeing the right to bare arms. Hopefully, and I pray daily, a civil war in American can be averted. To prevent such a horror, we must counteract those that propagandize the masses before it is too late.
Instead of the citizen soldier that the founders envisioned when they created the Second Amendment, we need the citizen journalist.
We need people that can blog, vlog on Youtube or use any other social media to get the message out to our friends and neighbors that like lambs they are being led to the slaughter.
First above I mentioned Ann Corcoran and one of her blogs. I have been following this lady for years on her other blog Refugee Resettlement Watch (RRW) and since the Trump administration has cut refugee admissions drastically Ms. Corcoran has turned her attentions to the fraud and crimes committed by these “new Americans.” It should be noted that because of her tireless efforts to enlighten the masses that the refuggee resettlement programs were rife with fraud and a danger to local economies, the Southern Poverty Law Center listed RRW as a hate group. We should note that the SPLC has now been exposed as a fraud, but the hate group RRW consisted of one little old lady, and her cat… Her single handed volunteer work on a privately funded web site got the attention of a group with a billion dollar budget. You can do the same.
WordPress–the platform you are now reading this blog on–has free websites. Episcopis Contemplationes: the contemplations of a Bishop is but one example of what you can do for free. While I seldom have the time to write a long missive as I have done today, it only takes a few minutes to share a news article or a link to one on your blog. Also you can set up WordPress to automatically post a link on your Facebook or Twitter account, therefore your blog post gets put out there for others to see.
